Be Transformed Back To the
Time FRIDAY, SEPT 5 THROUGH MONDAY, SEPT 8 ONLY See spectacular presentations of jousting tournament shows by Knights of the Guild. No less technical than a Las Vegas production complete with computerized musical soundtracks, these shows adorn a dynamic message of respect and honor with extraordinary feats of horsemanship and authentic knightly competition. Behind the scenes, the male and female performers who actually don the armor and joust on horseback are highly trained equestrian athletes. The knights wear authentic plate and chain maille armor and ride beautiful horses, may direct descendents of the legendary “Flemish Great Horses” that carried knights onto the battle and tournament fields of Europe during the 15th century. The armor and garments are made by professional armorers and costumers who fashion each custom-fit pierce by hand in accordance with historical design. They can weigh up to 70 pounds, cost several thousand dollars, and take approximately six months to manufacture. In addition to the sheer magnificence of the performance, you will also experience a unique education experience that teaches good Character, ethics, and social skills to all ages through the heroic, live-action themes of knighthood and chivalry. Knights of the Guild was founded in 1997 by Dr. Randall Parr, a decorated former Naval officer, specializing in motivation program development of Navy and Marine Corps Training Commands. The other staff members come from a variety of backgrounds, but each is chosen for their individual talents, commitment to service, and who maintain an extraordinary standard of personal excellence. Personally, each candidate must be able to pass a thorough background investigation and found to be a person of sound character and personal responsibility worthy of the respect of educators, parents, and children alike. See more on Knights of the Guild at www.knightlife.net.
FRIDAY, SEPT 5 THROUGH MONDAY, SEPT 8 ONLY Only a Texas band can do ZZ Top right, and Cheap Sunglasses have the look, the moves and the sound that will make you think you are seeing the real thing. Chuck Cottle plays lead guitar, sings and is the band's Billy Gibbons. Chuck's guitar teacher introduced him to ZZ Top in his early teens and he was very impressed with Gibbons' playing, and especially his slide guitar. Chuck puts his heart and soul into playing ZZ Top's music, and always does his best to do Billy's licks justice. Tim Harden plays bass, sings and is the band's Dusty Hill. He has been playing bass in the studio and on stage for over 20 years. He was heavily influenced by cutting-edge bassists from the 1960's and 1970's, primarily the late-great John Entwistle of The Who. Tim's use of dual amps, along with his "lead bass" technique, helps give Cheap Sunglasses that high octane boost, making their live shows exciting to watch and listen to. Jeff Gilbertson is the keyboardist/utility player for Cheap Sunglasses, and is the band's "5th Beatle" or, in this case, our "4th amigo". When listening to any ZZ Top recording, you might notice that on a lot of songs, there is more going on than any mortal rock trio can play live. Jeff does his best to fill the gaps with backing guitar, keys, harmonica, percussion and whatever else the song calls for. Jimmy Fenno is the Frank Beard (the drummer without a beard) of Cheap Sunglasses, laying down steaming drum grooves and expert Texas shuffles. Jimmy is one of the top drummers in Austin. Jimmy's first teacher was his father, Dick Fenno, noted arranger and composer, who took Jimmy off the kitchen floor with the pots and pans and plunked him behind the drum set at age six. Jimmy has played drums ever since.
Cheap Sunglasses
